Normal crowns are glued or ‘cemented’ the tooth beneath. No alternative to cementing is available. As a result should there be a problem with the crown the only option is to cut the old crown off and replace it with a new one. With implant crowns, how we  secure the crown to the implant varies depending on where you live. In the United States cementing crowns to implants is most popular (although the tide is now turning). In Australia we prefer to screw the crown to the implant where possible. This allows us the opportunity to remove the crown for inspection, repair and maintenance should the need arise.
